How To Stage A Bathroom

Now that we're in full swing of the holiday season, many are preparing their homes for sale. Whether you're looking to put your home up for sale in winter or in spring, it's important to know how to stage every room in your house - including your bathroom. Here are some tips on how to stage one of the most critical spaces in the house - the bathroom!

Deep Clean

While most of the year a regular swish and swipe is sufficient, to capture the attention of a potential buyer, your bathroom needs to be spotless. Get really down in the mud with your cleaning by washing the walls, the garbage can, scrubbing the toilet and using a descaler on * your shower head.

The best time to do this deep clean is right before you take pictures and then do a light touch up clean before every showing. The goal is to make potential buyers immediately feel at ease when walking into your bathroom. Make sure it always smells fresh and looks immaculate.

No Signs Of Life

The best way to sell a home to a potential buyer is for them to imagine themselves in the home. They will struggle to do that if walking into the bathroom they see signs of life that it belongs to someone else. If there are personal decor items such as sea shells, notes, framed personal photos tuck them away for the time being.

Other items to move away are related to personal hygiene. Toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, tuck away the majority of personal hygiene items into drawers or cupboards for the time being. You want the bathroom to feel simple and relaxing. Keep all your daily items in a basket that you can easily move from, one space to another so that you can make use of the bathroom as necessary, but it can still be show ready whenever a potential buyer wants to pop by for a viewing.

We can appreciate that with daily use of a bathroom you will have evidence of use of the bathroom. Make sure these also disappear before any pictures on viewings. Do a quick sweep of the garbage can, toilet scrubber, plunger, magazines and air fresheners. All of these, including a squatty potty or training potty should go before a viewing.

Simple And Clean Styling

Once you've deep cleaned and removed all signs of life, you want to create an atmosphere that feels like the perfect combination of clean, luxurious and impersonal. Think a spa or hotel bathroom.

If there's one space in the house where you want to put in some extra effort when it comes to styling, it's the bathroom. You don't need many accessories in a bathroom to give it a sense of style, but what you choose is very important. Make sure whatever you select doesn't draw too much to the eye, each piece needs to contribute to an overall feeling in the room. When torn, always opt for bright and airy over anything else.

These are just some of our tips for styling a bathroom. Do you have others that you swear by? Let us know!
